Glowing Up

A few years ago I came to the realization that the clothing in my wardrobe did not mirror the person I wanted to reflect. If my closet was a song it would’ve been “I’m Not a girl, Not yet a woman” by Brittney Spears. I had beat up baseball T-shirts, a pair of jeans I’d had since middle school, and many more questionable fashion choices from the past. A mess of who I was and who I was becoming - selecting an outfit in the morning was a challenge. I was graduating with a masters degree and thought of myself as a distinguished young lady. Why weren’t people taking me seriously? It was definitely time to grow and glow up my personal style.

As individuals, we grow and change by nature and sometimes our last style decision, or in my case the entire closet, isn’t up to date with the current version of ourselves (update like you would a phone or computer to the latest version). Clothing and style choice play a major role in how others perceive us. Your style is an extension of your voice and another means of communication. Making a conscious decision about who I was and how I wanted to present to the world was life changing.

Questions to ask yourself: what doesn’t this say about me? Is this in line with my current value system? Goals? Is this me now or a part of a past life that I need to let go of?

Step 1: Let it go
Step 2: Style board (Pinterest)
Step 3: Find a stylist  (“ahem* me :) & create your new look!
